Is it now legal to post DJ mixes to Soundcloud?

OK to upload mixes to Soundcloud again?
OK to upload mixes to Soundcloud again?

Digitaldjtips.com is reporting that according to an interview that appeared in German music magazine Groove, it is, (or will be soon become) legal again to post DJ mixes on SoundCloud with the introduction of th paying service Soundcloud Go. Users streaming DJ mixes that don’t pay for Go will get advertising, Go subscribers will have advertisement-free experience.

As you might know, SoundCloud cracked down on DJ mixes a while ago, removing them claiming copyright infringement, even up to cancelling entire user accounts. Needless to say, that didn’t necessarely help SoundCloud’s reputation in the DJ world. It’s impossible to confirm the veracity of the claim right now (even though the person interviewed by Groove is Eric Wahlforss, Co-founder and CTO), or if it applies to other markets besides Germany. Germany is known to have very strict copyrights laws so we can only hope that if the problem is out of the way there, it should also be solved in the rest of the world.

SFX Entertainement as emerged from bankruptcy as the rebranded LifeStyle. The company will continue to manage different brands accross the globe, including MADE Events, React, Disco Donnie Presents, Life in Color, and MMG, along with festivals and brands such as Electric Zoo, Spring Awakening, Mysteryland, Tomorrowland, TomorrowWorld, Sensation, Corona Sunsets, and Life in Color.

Additionaly, Beatport will remain part of the group. Since Beatport has ditched its non core businesses such as the streaming service, it has become profitable again, so worth keeping.
