If you are, like me, excited by the arrival of the Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX2, then you are eagerly awaiting actual footage of the unit.
Of course, this being DjTechZone, I will test the XDJ-RX2 personally sooner or later, but in the meantime, it’s interesting to see what other reviewers find. A few things I have learned so far:
- The performance pads are much better this time around, they feel much more like pads on actual Dj controllers and don’t have that “click” plastic feeling the ones on the XDJ-RX had
- The mapping with Rekordbox DJ is… a bit confusing, as the performance pads on the XDJ-RX2 don’t have the same layout as the DDJ controllers, and Rekordbox DJ has to support both with the same software implementation. Let’s keep in mind this is a stand-alone unit in the first place, and that any software mapping will always of secondary importance. Still, I expect Pioneer DJ to improve the mapping over time.
- The touchscreen is a great addition and makes the XDJ-RX2 far easier to use than the XDJ-RX, especially with large USB music libraries that need a lot of searching.
- The mixer layout is another great improvement, making it look much look in line with the bigger DJM mixers and thus making it easier for DJ’s to transition from the RX2 to a large setup and vice-versa.
Below are the videos posted on Youtube so far that discuss or present the XDJ-RX2. Enjoy!
