Serato DJ 1.9.8 has dropped, adding support for the Pioneer DJ DDJ-SR2 and the DJM-S3.

Serato has been having some good weeks & months recently, with major product release following close on each other. Only in the recent two months we saw the following products being released for Serato DJ

And yesterday, the Pioneer DJ DJM-S3 and DDJ-SR2.

That says a lot for the kind of industry support that Serato DJ has in the business, especially considering Pioneer DJ is a direct competitor to Serato DJ with their Rekordbox DJ software.

In the meantime, Native Instruments seems to have all but forgotten about their Traktor Pro software. They did upgrade their Maschine hardware yesterday, which we will cover elsewhere in detail, but it has been months since we have heard anything on the Traktor front.

With Serato DJ moving more and more into the realm of production (Serato Sampler VST plugin, Ableton Link integration…) we really start to wonder if Native has given up on Traktor Pro. Let’s hope they are working hard to finish Traktor Pro 3 in a secret bunker in Berlin and make a glorious come back to the scene.

Serato now also supports Beatjump on the Pioneer DJ CDJ-2000NXS2 through HID mode, which is interesting.

Lastly, be careful of installing the latest version right before a gig. As always, new software can have significant bugs that might roar their ugly head in the middle of your drop.
