Traktor Pro is not dead yet, and the proof is that version 2.11 went into public beta. A major features in 2.11 is integration of Ableton Link. As with Serato DJ, this allows for Traktor Pro to run in sync with Ableton and any other software running Link in a simple transparent way. Major stuff.

In addition, Native Instruments is putting those remix decks to more good use by integrating a step sequencer. Now djtechtools.com has a detailed report on how the sequencer works in the beta over here, but there is also a cool little video posted by Native Instruments on Facebook showing the step sequencer in action:

Expect for this to work out of the box on the most recent Traktor controllers (like the S8 and the D2), but the post on FB states it is midi mappable on other controllers as well.
It’s good to see Native Instruments evolving Traktor, albeit slowly. Integrating Link and a sequencer shows that NA is paying attention to what is happening in the Serato/Roland camp (with the announcement of the DJ-808 Serato DJ controller with integrated step sequencer). Enrole in the public beta program here.
